About the CE Surrey Club
Mission statement
To help local construction organisations, including clients, designers, contractors and suppliers, achieve excellence through reduced costs, increased productivity and a greater fulfilment of customer needs, by implementing better management practices.
Geographic coverage
The CE Surrey Club has members across the county. Many events are currently held in or around Guildford, however as membership grows we intend to hold future events in different places across the county.
Industry context
On average, 30% of the construction process is wasted effort. This can arise at any stage from planning and design through construction to operation and maintenance. For example, time - and therefore money - can be wasted through:
- Defective work
- Tendering
- Adversarial attitudes
- Unnecessary redesign
- Standing time
- Management of interfaces (between designers, contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, etc)
Club objectives
Against this background, the CE Surrey Club aims:
- To assist clients in obtaining the best value from construction
- To educate staff through practical workshops on key topics and through visits to organisations which have implemented best practice
- To help local companies achieve change to improve productivity and competitiveness
- To promote and support industry efforts to provide safe, attractive and effective workplaces for employees and the community
- To network with other organisations
